FAQs

Professional Coil Cleaning

Coil cleaning isn't really something that someone wants to do on their own! Call Jimmy's Coil Cleaning today to learn more about the importance of having clean coils, and then schedule your service appointment.

Question: What is coil cleaning?
Answer: A tankless coil is inside of a steam or hot water boiler. It gets its heat from a transfer of that vessel to your drinking water. When your coils get clogged, it loses its ability to absorb heat and restricts water flow. The causes of this could be many factor, but most commonly it’s calcium and sand, grit and mud build-ups. Our cleaning removes the build-up of these products and restores water pressure and temperature.

Symptoms of these problems are no hot water pressure, sand or grit in your faucets, low water temperature or sporadic temperatures. If you are experiencing one of these symptoms, a coil cleaning is in order.

Question: How do we clean your coils?
Answer: Cleaning a coil consists of us pumping a safe mineral de-scaling solution through your coils to remove and flush out these harmful products.

Question: How often do I need my coils cleaned?
Answer: Coils need to be cleaned when the symptoms we discussed above occur. It is all based on the quality of the water you have in your home. We have customers that get their coils cleaned every six weeks and some that can go years between cleanings. Most of our customers get it done once a year on average. Maintenance cleaning is best. It prevents the building of scale and keeps your coil running efficiently. With the cost of fuel rising, getting maximum heat transfer is a bonus.

Question: What do I need to get my coils cleaned?
Answer: To clean a coil you need two valves in the coil. One valve will be on the cold side of the coil and the other on the hot side. These valves are what we need to clean a coil. If you don’t have them, then we can install them. We do not need to know if you have them, we carry them in our truck and provide them at the time of service. Don’t feel bad if you don’t know- most customers who call do not know if they are in the coil. To assure you that your appointment time is not wasted, we are fully prepared to handle each situation. We have two price structure; one if the valves are there and another if they aren’t. Please call for current pricing.
